COASTAL RETREAT/SAN FRANCISCO
This coastal California residence was shaped around a single driving intention: to embrace the sweeping ocean from every angle. The rugged seascape and the Golden Gate Bridge remain a constant presence throughout daily life.
The interior and exterior were completely gutted and rebuilt, utilizing warm wood paneling and custom wooden windows to compliment the natural surroundings in the public areas. Pops of color and pattern in the tile and stone create visual interest in the bathrooms, laundry room, and kitchenette, elevating everyday activities.
Equally important was honoring the homeowner’s art collection and cherished furnishings, which were selected to be refined, yet comfortable. Materials, colors, and lighting enhance these pieces while creating a cohesive, timeless environment.
With aging in place in mind, essential living spaces such as the primary suite, kitchen, and living areas are located on the main floor for effortless long-term comfort. Additional rooms and flexible spaces are situated downstairs, offering privacy for guests, and room for hobbies and family gatherings.
The result is a home that balances beauty and practicality, celebrating both art and ocean in equal measure.
